Dear GreySheet Community

My name is Joel and I am a compulsive eater and your Chair of GSAWS. I weigh and measure 3 meals a day from the GreySheet, commit it to my sponsor and don't eat no matter what.

The Board is moving through some challenging times and the purpose of this email is to inform the community of our current status and next proposed steps.  We ask for your continued prayers, feedback and well wishes.

First, our current status: Attached is a scanned copy of our bank statement and the most recent treasurer's report. The amount of money we have is about the same as we have had for the past several years with our only major expense those associated with the obtaining the copyright to the GreySheet. We will be re-posting all of the previous Treasurers. As you can see, only about 10 groups send in their 7th so we aren't growing the Treasury and this will be an item of discussion in the future.

Next Steps: The goal of the Board is to get us to a World Service Conference. We have looked for guidance in and outside the community and believe the following are the next right steps but would like to hear your thoughts on the following:

1) Consistent with Board procedures, the Board will take a voice vote on the following:

a) Amend the current budget with the addition of a line item in the amount of $4500 for a review of our finances by an accountant (see previous emails for details on the accountant) and publish the budget on the GSAWS website. The accountant was chosen by many of the past board and we have talked to him, received a Statement of Work from him that the past Board approved, and to whom the Treasurer has already delivered our financial records.

b) Pay the accountant an initial fee of $1500 to start reviewing the financial records which are already in his possession;

c) Publish the report when it is complete on the GreySheet website. We expect (a) and (b) to take place in the next week and (c) as soon as it is available.

2) Review our current legal and tax exempt status with our legal counsel, with the accountant and the IRS.

3) Have a face-to-face Communications and Voting meeting at the New York Roundup 27-28 October. The date, time and exact location of the meeting are dependent on the New York Roundup committee and will be published as soon as they are available. We would hope to have dial-in capabilities for this meeting. Please reply back to me if you would like to attend.
