Following the Alcoholics Anonymous guidelines, an Intergroup Area consists of a geographic region with anywhere from five to twenty registered GSA meetings.
-
The size of the Intergroup Area is determined by communication and service needs, including the:
- Ease with which GSRs may travel to the Intergroup meeting;
- Efficiency with which the Intergroup can conduct its meetings;
- Types of issues shared by the groups in the Intergroup Area; and
- Languages spoken by the groups.
- An Intergroup Area may be a small geographic region, such as Manhattan, because there are many meetings in the Area and efficient meetings typically require less than 20 voting members.
- An Intergroup Area may be a large geographic region, such as Continental Europe, because there are fewer meetings in the Area and the groups share common issues.
Based on the Regions of Alcoholics Anonymous and GSA's current population distribution, GreySheeters Anonymous World Service Board proposes the following Areas but this is only a proposal. GSA members and groups are welcome to propose alternative Areas to meet their needs. All proposals will be placed before the first World Service Conference for approval.
