GSA Intergroups Contact Information

Following the Alcoholics Anonymous model, an Intergroup Area consists of a geographic region with anywhere from five to twenty registered GSA groups.

  • The size of the Intergroup Area is determined by communication and service needs, including the:
    • Ease with which GSRs may attend the Intergroup meeting;
    • Efficiency with which the Intergroup can conduct its meetings;
    • Types of issues shared by the groups in the Intergroup Area; and
    • Languages spoken by the groups.
  • An Intergroup Area may be a small geographic region, such as Manhattan, because there are many meetings in the Area and efficient meetings typically require less than 20 voting members.
  • An Intergroup Area may be a large geographic region, such as Europe, because there are fewer meetings in the Area and the groups share common issues.
