Welcome to the May 2022 issue of Service Matters, your answer to the question, “What’s Up in GreySheet?” regarding all the work done for GSA as a whole to carry the message to compulsive eaters who still suffer.

What service Means To Me

Service keeps me sober…this was said in prior 12 step programs of mine and here in GSA we say service is slimming!  Regardless, service has kept me from eating non-abstinently on numerous occasions. I’m a GSR and can only do that with 90-days sobriety. To eat—not only means to die but also—means to lose my service to the group, to fail to be a world service delegate, to make the group find a replacement. So, I resist and make a call and make it one more meal. I also feel a part of something bigger than myself and part of carrying the message. Join us!

Upcoming Meetings

All Interested GreySheeters Welcome!

Each of these meetings is an opportunity to expand your recovery by learning more about the framework that guides our work together. If you’re a delegate, you’ll want to clear your calendar and attend each of these meetings. This is how we get essential information and guidance for giving our best to the groups we serve.

Board of Trustees Column - May 2022

Our fellowship’s 7th World Service Conference meeting will be held on October 23rd, 2022. The GSA World Service Conference meeting is the main business meeting of GreySheeters Anonymous. It is where we take a global group conscience on matters that affect us all.

General Service Representatives (GSRs), Intergroup Service Representatives (ISRs) and the Board of Trustees (BOTs) gather to review the state of the GSA fellowship. They work on issues such as our program structure, GSA literature and outreach methods, financial policies and procedures, and they nominate new board members.

The GSRs, ISRs and Trustees are your representatives whom you elect as your delegates to the conference meeting. Their mission is to reflect the opinions of our community on the resolutions of the committees and the board.

Each and every one of you can influence the fellowship as a whole and the outcome of the conference meeting.

How Can You Influence?

  1. Elect a Representative and register them as a Delegate: Each group or intergroup that registers a delegate will have a vote at the conference meeting.

  2. Discuss the Resolutions with Your Representatives: Resolutions will be published on our website by the end of May. Your representatives will soon invite you to discuss these so you can ask questions, raise concerns, and make suggestions.

  3. Discuss the Resolutions with the Committees: Attend the monthly Committees Connecting meetings on the second Sunday of every month at 12pm ET to speak directly with the committees developing the resolutions.

This is your fellowship! Participate!

Board Secretary

Your Board of Trustees has an unexpected opening for the position of Secretary. The Secretary of the Board of Trustees is a critical member of the board as she or he records the minutes of the monthly Board of Trustees meetings which provide a record of our decision making. We publish those minutes for full transparency to our fellowship:  Board Minutes.

The Secretary is a trustee, i.e., the requirement is five years of back to back GreySheet abstinence and the term of office is three years. If you or anyone you know is qualified and interested, please contact Grainne, Chair - Board of Trustees at President@greysheet.org or Linda, Chair - Nominating Committee at Nominating@greysheet.org. We will be happy to answer your questions.

Note Taker

The Note Taker records attendance and main points of discussion at the monthly Committees Connecting World Service meeting. One year abstinence/one year term. 2 hours a month. If interested, please email Grainne, Chair – Board of Trustees at greysheet@greysheet.org.
