The Communication and Voting (C/V) is the communications method of the GSAWS Board and the GSA community and will meet at least once a month until the GSAWS World Service Conference (WSC). The usual time for this meeting will be the last Sunday of each month, 11am-1pm Eastern US Time. The dial number will be 712-432-3920 / 470310#.

The next three meetings are scheduled for

  • 4 February 2013 11:00am-1:00pm Eastern US Time
  • 31 March 2013 11:00am-1:00pm Eastern US Time
  • 28 April 2013 11:00- 1:00 Eastern US Time

The Purpose of the meeting is the following:

  • Continue forming action committees
  • Review and discuss suggestion and proposals

The Committees sent following suggestions/proposals for discussion/voting at our C/V meeting. The below text is shortened and the details you will be able to hear at the meeting.

One of the first tasks of Structure Committee is making a proposal about the voting body for this coming World Service Conference (WSC).

This is the proposal:

  1. Each GSR (of the GSA group) that comes to the first WSC has one vote; one vote also goes to the Intergroup/Area delegate if they come to WSC
  2. When groups that have GSRs are too small and don't have enough money to send the GSR to the conference, we suggest that they get together and form an area orIntergroup and then send the delegate together to the WSC (and he/she gets one vote)

  3. Board members (the 5 of the current ones) also get each one vote, because they were elected and are trusted servants.

  4. This proposal would enable us to get more votes at the conference at this time, because if we say only Intergroups could have vote/votes (bigger IGs more votes), probably there would be only few delegates but at this point it might be good to involve as much groups as it is possible.

  5. Further conferences might have different voting body- the structure committee will work on suggesting the structure similar to AA or other smaller 12step communities.

Our report and next steps:

The GSAWS Literature Committee is forming. We invite representative members from each Intergroup/community.
